This workshop is designed to help practitioners develop assessments that will inform and guide their teaching practice.

This workshop is designed to help practitioners develop assessments that will inform and guide their teaching practice. This workshop will include several presentations and activities that stress authentic assessment techniques. Other activities will demonstrate how students can be engaged in designing classroom assessments, including peer and self-assessments and the student-generated rubrics. The development of learning objectives and their connection to assessments, classroom activities, and the Curriculum Frameworks will be presented.

Learning objectives

Upon completion of this training, participants will be able to:

  • identify different ways to integrate assessments into classroom practice;
  • describe how assessments can be a tool for refining Learning Objectives and generating effective activities;
  • develop at least one form of authentic assessment and integrate it into a planned class; and
  • use the Curriculum Framework's standards and benchmarks in designing classroom assessment.
