Planning for Program Improvement--session #1 of 5 (statewide)

Description:
This is a hands-on, highly participatory five-session mini-course that provides program directors and their staff with an opportunity to engage in a step-by-step process for working on program improvement, including the analysis of program-related data. Participants will be expected to complete some between-session assignments and to deliver a brief final presentation. We recommend that, if possible, program directors attend as part of a team, along with one or more other staff from their program. The five sessions are on 1/23 (1-3:30), 1/30 (1-3:30), 2/13 (12:30-4:30), 3/12 (1-3:30), and 4/9 (1-4:30).

Learning Objectives:
As a result of attending this activity, participants will be able to:
1) List and describe the steps in a planning process.
2) Identify human and contextual factors affecting a planning process.
3) Describe the use of data and resources in planning.
4) Identify several sources of data and ways to analyze data.
5) Describe a process for identifying a program improvement goal or goals.
6) Develop an action plan for program improvement.
7) Integrate staff development within a program improvement plan.
8) Describe ways to document the implementation of a program improvement plan.
9) Develop questions that can be used to evaluate a plan.
