Teaching ABE Students About the U.S. Government, Tax System & Advocacy: Exploring the Your Government, Your Taxes, Your Choices Curriculum & VERA resources (SE)
October 1, 2008 2:00 PM - 5:00 PM
- Training Resources of America
- 144 Main Street
- Brockton, MA 02301
Description:
Adult learners' well-being is profoundly affected by the current tax system and by the policies of our executive and legislative leaders. Have you always wanted to incorporate this kind of civic participation content into your classroom? Or perhaps you already have designed and implemented lessons about the U.S. government, the role of taxes, and electoral politics into your curriculum and would like to learn about other approaches and materials that are available. Either way, join us for a 2-hour workshop, where we will explore the recently updated curriculum, Your Taxes, Your Government, Your Choices developed by the Massachusetts Coalition of Adult Educators (MCAE) and consider ways of adapting it to your class or integrate it into your program’s larger curriculum.
