Overview
Come and learn how to collaborate with your students to set authentic goals and then monitor and document achievement toward these goals in adherence to the Massachusetts DOE Countable Outcomes (CO) Policy. In this interactive session we’ll review the CO policy and its requirements and then work in groups to develop a goal management system for your program.

Please consider coming with a colleague to promote goal setting process infrustructure building at your program.

Learning objectives

As a result of participating in this session, you’ll be able to:

¥     Explain the development of and rationale behind the Countable Outcomes policy. 

¥     Summarize the Performance Accountability Standard for Countable Outcomes.

¥     Explain information in the Countable Outcomes Chart, distinguishing between Columns A, B and C.

¥     Draft a program goal-setting process that includes: helping students to identify and work toward achieving their goals/countable outcomes; integrating student goals/countable outcomes into the classroom; and using outcome data to improve classroom and program practice.

Presenters Bio
Gloria has worked in the ABE field for several years and is currently the Executive Director for the Randolph Community Partnership. She has a special interest and skill in helping program staff understand the MA DOE Countable Outcomes policy and implement a student goal management system that works for them and their program. Nancy’s current role at SABES SE involves her working closely with SE programs on curriculum and assessment issues. She has worked extensively at the program level with goal management systems both in and out of the classroom.
