Teaching Reading at the G.E. 4th through 8th Level SE (7 required attendance sessions) S7

Description: This course will provide you with knowledge, skills, and strategies for enhancing the reading comprehension ability of your mid-level ABE learners. The course will also inform you of approaches for developing the word attack skills that many mid-level readers do not yet possess and which impair their ability to read to learn. In the practicum portion of the course, you’ll work directly with learners trying out newly learned skills, develop a draft lesson plan unit that adheres to MA DOE expectations, and share results with fellow participants. **** Course Requirements ****  30 workshop hours  15 hours practicum including: Designing, implementing & sharing lesson plans  Homework readings
