Overview
Anxious about Algebra? This is the second series of workshops NE SABES plans to offer this year geared to help you become more comfortable with numeracy and algebra/math concepts and instruction. And if you already feel comfortable, NE SABES will offer you more opportunities to expand your repertoire of activities and exchange your ideas with fellow math teaching veterans. Come learn and grow with NE SABES skilled presenters and facilitators. Increase your own problem solving competence as you explore math content areas, and build your confidence as you learn new multi-sensory teaching strategies that are both creative and fun! Join the movement to improve math understanding. Join the movement to improve student possibilities within the family, community, and workplace.

Session 2: Algebra for All(2 sessions) When: Part 1 - Content - Wednesday, March 4, 2009 – 1:00-4:00pm and Part 2 - Practice - Wednesday, March 18, 2009 – 1:00-4:00pm and Wednesday, April 15, 2009 Teacher to Teacher(T2T): Sharing Algebra Ideas and Insights - 1:00-3:30pm (Please Register for Part 1 only once on March 4 for Parts 1 and 2.) PDP’s will be provided upon successful completion of at least 10 hours of this workshop series and based upon the number of sessions attended (a maximum of 17 PDPs is available for for those who complete the entire series). Note: Any workshop of 10 or more PDP’s can be counted as “coursework” toward the ABE teacher’s license if the workshop meets the requirements outlined in the Guidelines for the ABE Teacher’s License.

Barbara Goodridge and Christina Cronin are both math teachers at Lowell Adult Education Program and have been facilitating the highly successful Teacher to Teacher Math sessions for the past three years. Their approach will build your confidence as you learn new multi-sensory teaching strategies that are both creative and fun!
