As a result of this two-session, six-hour workshop, participants will be able to:
1. effectively use the Massachusetts ABE Curriculum Frameworks to develop curriculum
2. define the components of a “basic” and an “beyond the basic” curriculum as defined by ACLS policy
3. assign particular Curriculum Framework standards and benchmarks to specific classes in their program (“Front On” approach)
4. identify which standards/benchmarks they are currently addressing in their classes and which they are not (“Back In” approach)
5. demonstrate how skills development can be addressed through different knowledge content as suggested by student goals and interests.
6. convert general themes of interest to students into manageable topics and then into lesson plan units.
