Overview
The BEST Plus training is for practitioners who will be administering and scoring the BEST Plus oral proficiency assessment for ESOL learners. This hands-on training covers all aspects of how to administer and score the BEST Plus computer-adaptive oral interview. It is the first required step toward certification as a BEST Plus test administrator; after the training, practitioners must administer and score practice tests in order to complete the certification process. The training is open to DOE-funded program staff only.
Details
The training is 6 hours (with an additional ½ hour break for lunch). It includes: an overview of the development, format and content of the test; instruction on how to administer and score the test; an explanation of the scoring rubric; practice scoring exercises using video-taped student samples; and an opportunity for hands on practice administering the test.
