As a result of participating in this workshop participants will be able to:
- describe what the SCANS, Equipped for the Future, National Skills Standards, and the MA Work-Based Learning Plan are and how they relate to the classroom and the workplace
- identify means for teaching workplace competencies through instructional strategies and classroom management techniques
- identify and explain at least one active learning strategy that encourages each of the following: reflection, awareness of how skills transfer, and assessment of competencies
- analyze and evaluate their current instructional strategies and classroom management techniques for their effectiveness in teaching job readiness skills
- develop a plan, based on the evaluation of their classroom, to improve their effectiveness in teaching job readiness skills by incorporating new strategies and techniques learned

- Martha has over 15 years experience in workforce development and adult basic education. As a consultant, she works with community-based organizations on the design and implementation of integrated employment and training programs and also conducts statewide staff trainings.
