- Overview
- The first meeting of the Student Support/Counselor group will feature an interactive and thought provoking discussion on identity, cultural competency, and implementation of awareness raising techniques facilitated by Jamie Ramola from the MA Office for Victim Assistance. You will increase your "toolbox" with activities focused on world view and privilege. We will address definitions, language, and communication approaches. This training is a great beginner’s course on the path to cultural awareness within the classroom, the workplace, and at home. Additionally, topics including violence and relationships will be used to understand specific barriers and more competent responses in diverse settings. SSC's and Counselors are encouraged to bring a "team" from their program for this workshop. It is our hope that the scheduling of this session for late afternoon/early evening will make it accessible for both daytime and evening SSC’s/Counselors. Dates for future meetings of an evening group will be decided at this session. Daytime group meeting times are listed below.
