- Overview
- The Department of Education requires all staff new to Adult Basic Education to participate in 15 hours of orientation training. This orientation offers a broad introduction to the world of adult education, its practices and resources. You should attend this training if you have worked in an adult education program for less than one year, or if you have never received a comprehensive introduction to adult education.

- explore many effective approaches to working with adult learners

- access teaching and learning resources, including books, videos, and technology
- learn about SABES and other ABE teacher support services
- create a portfolio of your attitudes, insights, and knowledge regarding adult education
- network, share and learn with colleague
- develop a staff development plan to enhance your teaching and your students' learning
