- The two-part Pre-GED Teacher's Orientation is designed for practitioners who would benefit from an orientation to grade-level equivalent 6-8.9 teaching. The training focuses on the components of reading, the relationship between reading and the GED test, goal setting, lesson planning and classroom management issues. You must attend both sessions; Session 2 is on June 8, 2009.

- Learning objectives
- As a result of attending the orientation, participants will be able to: *Describe, relate and apply "Values" and "Learning Styles" to their classroom management in order to create a comfortable learning environment; *Understand the importance of identifying and applying the components of reading comprehension with their students so as to increase academic learning; *Define and relate concepts of "Inference Skills" and develop strategies to teach these skills; *Write a lesson plan using the Massachusetts ABE Frameworks *Incorporate "SMARTT system goals" into the classroom as a catalyst for reading instruction; *Identify and use strategies in the classroom to build student-reading ability.

- Wendy Quinones currently teacher GED and pre-GED at the Cambridge Learning Center. She's been teaching and training teachers for over 15 years.
