- Do you: Have students who are preparing for the U.S. Citizenship Test? Want to know how to make sure they'll pass? Need a preview of recently-implemented changes to the test? This workshop will give you an overview of the naturalization test and offer details on the content, format, standards, and procedures for the test and the interview, including the new test requirements. The presenter will share strategies, activities, and materials for making sure that students succeed in this high-stakes (and potentially life-changing) encounter.

- Learning objectives
- After completing this workshop, participants will be able to: 1) Understand the steps in the naturalization process and know the benefits/required qualifications and dangers of applying for citizenship. 2) Be able to name the components of the citizenship test, explain how each sub-test is conducted, and identify key test content. 3) Be familiar with materials and strategies for making civics content meaningful to ESOL learners, particularly those at lower proficiency levels.

- Presenters Bio
- Lynne is the author of "Citizenship: Passing the Test" and "Citizenship: Ready for the Interview." She is also the Coordinator of the Jones Library ESL Center in Amherst. She is the DOE Specialty Area facilitator for EL/Civics and worked on the MA Adult ESOL Curriculum Frameworks. She conducts technical assistance, research, and advocacy (in the area of citizenship education) on a national basis.
