Overview
Teachers who attend this two-day Reading Horizons/Discover Intensive Phonics training will learn a flexible and concise method of Orton-Gillingham-based reading instruction that provides low level readers and English language learners the skills they need to decode English words. Through direct instruction, logical sequencing, and multi-sensory techniques, this approach enables students to recognize words rapidly and automatically. Additionally, this approach aids in the development of hand writing and spelling. Presented as a two-day training, running from 9 a.m-5 pm on each day with a break for lunch, participants will have opportunities to practice teaching the approaches. *Reading Horizons is a private, for-profit educational and research organization. You can learn more about them by visiting their website at: http://www.readinghorizons.com
