Overview
(Registration for this training is full. As of September 30, 2008, registrations will be put on a waiting list for the same training at Boston SABES during the 3rd or 4th quarter of FY09. ABE practitioners who want to be trained early can try for the training at other SABES regional offices.) This training is intended only for staff at programs funded by the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education/Adult and Community Learning Services that are required to use this test. Prerequisites
To receive this training, participants must have an English fluency level of SPL 9 or above. Administering the BEST Plus requires that the test administrator have a comfortable level of facility with computers; that is, s/he must be able to use a keyboard and operate a mouse with relative ease. We require that once a practitioner has registered for a BEST Plus training, she or he must make every effort to attend. SABES will be offering only a limited number of training dates; in addition, these trainings are hands-on, involving the use of computer hardware and specialized software. For these reasons, rescheduling for no-shows cannot be guaranteed. Furthermore, because this training has only limited follow-up, participants may not be more than 20 minutes late and cannot leave early for whatever reason. If a registered participant knows that she/he cannot attend her/his scheduled training or cannot meet the punctuality requirements, she or he should alert the SABES RSC immediately.
