- Overview
- This 4-hour workshop will introduce ABE program counselors to the basic elements and processes of working with and assisting adult learners in ABE programs to meet their goals. This workshop is also appropriate for ABE teachers, job developers and other program staff who are involved with supporting students in their classes and programs.

- As a result of the workshop, participants will be able to: • Understand the role of the counselor/student support facilitator (SSF) in the ABE program • Identify qualities of effective educational counselors/SSFs and counseling • Learn about some strategies counselors/SSFs can use with adult learners • Develop an action plan to improve effectiveness

- Presenters Bio
- Pat has over 20 years of experience in human service and education programs. She has been a counselor in an ABE program for over 5 years and has also worked as a career advisor for dislocated workers.
