Description: Are your students becoming critical readers? What are the components of reading instruction that enables ABE students to attain reading skills and strategies for fluency and critical comprehension? How are these strategies for fluency applied in the reading tasks needed for schooling, work and life at home or in the community? Recent theory development and research into reading competencies among adult learners has resulted in new and dynamic evidence-based instructional design. This workshop will give an overview of these developments and provide opportunites for teachers to integrate new reading instructional approaches into their teaching practice.
