Click on the register button to sign up for this event.
- Overview
- At this sharing group meeting, we will share our experiences working with learning disabilities. What are our responsibilities regarding accommodations? Are there tools that we can use to screen for learning disabilities? How can we work in partnership with the teachers in our program to provide the best learning environments? What kind of help can we expect from state agencies such as DTA, Mass Rehabilitation, etc.? What accommodations can DOE provide for GED testers? Come and share your thoughts on these and other issues. What works for you? What doesn’t work? Share your strategies and learn what has worked for other counselors.
- Details
- The Counselors’ Sharing Group (CSG) is open to counselors and interested staff from ABE programs in the Boston SABES Region. ALRI/Boston SABES is planning three CSG meetings for the whole year, all to be held at JFYNetworks. Each meeting will feature a discussion on a specific topic of interest to counselors and allow us to share our experience, resources and concerns. A portion of each meeting will also provide the opportunity for discussions of other issues facing ABE counselors. The setting will be one of sharing and support. The tentative date for the third sharing group meeting is 05/02/2008. And the topic for the third meeting will be multi-cultural issues. Please contact Pat Pestana, the facilitator of the sharing group meetings, or John Zhang, the Associate Coordinator at ALRI/Boston SABES, for other topics that you would like to bring to the meeting.
